Stylish man

We all know the markers of a confident man; someone who speaks clearly, makes eye contact, and carries himself with dignity. But what we sometimes forget is how much of that confidence is directly tied to our style choices. This is especially true for men who are dealing with hair loss and baldness.

Luckily, adopting good style is one of the easiest changes a man can make to directly affect his confidence. Things like putting on a nice pair of shoes to wearing a perfectly tailored suit make all of the difference in the world.

This is why I decided to put together 4 essential style tips that will lead to a more confident you.

Fit is Everything

Looking great in your clothes is 50% style and 50% fit.

A nice fitting outfit will make you look leaner, taller and play up your best features. This all counts towards looking and feeling more confident.

Every man should have a wardrobe that compliments his body. This means that pants should be the correct length and fit properly around the waist. Shirts should always fit just right around the neck, shoulders, and arms. And jackets fit properly around your chest and never pucker if you were to button them up.

It’s little details like these that matter when it comes to fit. And these little details all impact how confident you feel about your appearance.

If you haven’t already, you should really invest in a good tailor. Tailors are experts on garment construction and fit and they will help you get the most out of your clothing. Not only will you look better with custom-fitted clothing, but alterations can also actually save you money over time as you can now alter your clothes instead of throwing them away and buying new.

Make Comfort a Priority

It’s amazing how much of your confidence is tied to how comfortable you are feeling in the moment. Although we all want to look stylish, it’s equally as important to make sure we are comfortable in the clothes we are in.

If you focus on only wearing well-fitting garments as described above, than you are halfway to a more comfortable you. But if you are experimenting with new pieces of clothing it may take a mental toll on your confidence. This is especially true for new styles that you aren’t used to wearing.

Whenever I experiment with new styles or buy a new piece of clothing I try this trick; I wear it before I have to wear it.

For example, let’s say would like to wear a new jacket on a date. You should wear the jacket a full day or two before your official reveal. This way you can give yourself time to get used to how the garments move and feel throughout the day.

All of this leads to more mental comfort with the clothes you wear so you can stop worrying about how you look and instead focus on the things that matter. Once you master feeling comfortable you will start to see your confidence skyrocket.

Upgrade Your Footwear

Let’s face it, what you wear on your feet is just as important as the clothes on your back. But shoes are something a lot of guys overlook, leaving them with out of style shoes that clash with their outfits and downgrade their looks.

Like the other things on this list, upgrading your footwear is a simple step that can lead to a major boost in confidence.

Every man should own a nice pair of dress shoes that they can wear to everything from important meetings with clients to date nights. Finding the perfect pair is as easy as following these guidelines:

  • Made of high quality leather
  • Leather or thin rubber soles – avoid athletic soles
  • Well fitting and comfortable

For dress shoes you are going to want to stick to a classic oxford style. Keep to simple and versatile colors like black, brown or oxblood for your first pair.

During the colder months you’ll want to switch to a dress boot. You can upgrade to a pair of comfortable chukka boots in leather or suede. Like oxford shoes, chukka boots are versatile enough to be dressed up or down.

Like anything else in the world of style, feeling comfortable is a large part of looking confident. So make sure to try on a new pair of shoes before you buy them to make sure they are the right size and fit.

Build Confidence With Proper Grooming

Keeping up with your general appearance is more than just clothes, it also includes taking time to take care of your body as well. Proper grooming is important for confidence and self-esteem and this is especially true for bald men.

If you look at the most confident and masculine bald celebrities, you’ll notice that they are all perfectly groomed. From perfectly trimmed beards to clean fingernails.

Hey, I know we can’t all afford a team of full time stylists. But everyone can afford to take some time each day to take care of the basics.

Good grooming habits include:

  • Trimming unsightly nose hair and unruly eyebrows
  • Grooming your beard and facial hair
  • Taking care of your skin and moisturizing when needing
  • Trimming your fingernails and keeping them clean

If you habitually take care of these things you will automatically look and feel more confident guaranteed.
