Review: Kiehl’s Oil Eliminator 24 Hour Anti-Shine Moisturiser for Men

Kiehl’s Oil Eliminator 24 Hour Anti-Shine Moisturiser for Men

Keihl’s claim this moisturiser minimises excess oil, sweat and pollution to reduce the appearance of shine and pores.

Features at a Glance

  • Super absorbent, ultra-light moisturiser.
  • Provides an out-of-this world clean-skin feel by reducing the sweat and surface oil.
  • Visibly reduces the appearance of pores and shine.
  • Leaves skin softer, hydrated and more comfortable skin.
  • With continued use, skin looks less shiny and pores appear smaller.

Pros

  • Easy to apply and soaks into the skin with hardly any rubbing, if you’re not careful you think you haven’t applied it
  • The product has a nice fresh smell and feels really light when applying it
  • I noticed the skin on my face and noticeably on my head felt soft all day when using this product

Cons

There are not many to be honest, this one of the best products I have used for reducing the shine that excess oil causes.

The only major con is the price but this is a premium product from a well-respected brand. The claims regarding 24hr anti-shine protection are also misleading, especially for bald men – I am yet to find one that lives up to this claim.

At around £22 for 75 ML bottle and £32.0 for a 125ML tube, it’s one of the more expensive products on the market but I suppose you are paying for the high level of technology that has gone into it’s making.

My Opinion

So I have finally started using Kiehl’s oil eliminating anti-shine moisturiser after quite a few months deciding whether or not this was just an over priced and over hyped product reviewed by people being paid to do so – well gents this really is a great product and one I have really enjoyed using, why? Well, it seems to do what it claims – firstly the product does feel lightweight and is very easy to apply, almost to the point that once you have applied it, it has disappeared into your skin with very little rubbing.

Secondly, the affects do last longer that most of the other moisturisers I have used. As far as lasting 24hrs well I think you know my opinion on that claim, once I find a moisturiser that does this then I am going to buy shares in that company.

The moisturiser does contain alcohol dent which gives a little tingling feeling when first applied but it does not irritate the skin in any way, it’s actually a really nice feeling, a little like that of tea tree in some of the other products I have reviewed.

Kiehl's Oil Eliminator 24 Hour Anti-Shine Moisturiser for Men

The moisturiser has a slightly translucent colour and is not as thick in its consistency like some of the others I have tried. I guess this colouration and the feel is down to the ‘space-age’ claims the brand has regarding its technology – the use of Aerolite which they claim is used in space tech.

Honestly, it doesn’t bother me too much what goes into these products as long as it doesn’t harm me, animals or the environment. You could tell me it has the breath of a Unicorn and the water from a rainbow cloud and I still wouldn’t buy it for those reasons – I just want a product that works.

One of the biggest plus points apart from helping to reduce shine whilst still moisturising was that my skin felt like skin, it felt bare like there was no product on it, you can tell this is an elegant product and it has been cosmetically put together with care and attention, it’s also reflected in the price.

This is what Kiehl’s says the product offers

“This super absorbent, ultra-light moisturizer formulated with ‘space-age’ Aerolite technology ™  together with Totara Wood Extract, provides and out-of-this-world clean-skin feel by absorbing sweat and surface oil while visibly reducing the appearance of pores. Skin feels soft, hydrated and comfortable with a smooth, shine-free appearance for 24 hours. With continued use, skin looks less shinny and pores appear smaller.”

Price

The RRP is £32.00 on Keihl’s official website. However, you can get it cheaper by shopping around, for example, there are some good deals on Amazon here. See link for accurate country-specific pricing. Product typically available for shipping Worldwide.

Final thoughts

One of the best all-round moisturisers that actually lives up to most of its claims. If you’re a techie guy then you will be impressed in what the brand claims regarding its use of ‘space-age technology’, but if like me you just what it to do what it says then I think you’ll be impressed.

If the boffins at Kiehl’s brought out a range of products specially designed for bald guys then I would certainly be one the of first in the queue to try them. I am looking forward to trying the other products in their range and I will bring you my reviews on these as I try them.

OK, I suppose you pay for what you get, this is not a cheap product and not one to be slapped on any time of the day, it is however very effective and does last quite a long time.

I have been impressed with this moisturiser from the very start and will continue to keep this in my personal top 10.

    1. Hi there. Yes I did keep using it. I am currently trying lots of different products so that I can provide readers with a round-up of the best ones I have found so far. I have not yet added a review I am currently writing on Harry’s products – this is one the best so far and it was a surprise as it’s not really advertised as an ‘anti-shine’ lotion. It’s worth a try and look out for my review shortly… https://www.harrys.com/en/gb/products/face-lotion?h_id=582&h_position=1&h_list=face-care

  1. Hi!
Any updates on that Harrys Lotion review? Sounds very interesting, especially since it seems to offer SPF protection too!
    Cheers
