Review: Bulldog Oil Control Face Scrub

Cons

Although the product boasts some excellent credentials on what it does I would say it could do with being a little thicker and also contain more exfoliating beads – I felt there was lack of the ‘scrubbing’ feeling you get from some of the other brands of exfoliating face washes – however for the price I can live with it.

My Opinion

I am becoming quite a fan of the bulldog range of skincare products for men, especially the oil control range. After trying (and still using) the Bulldog Oil Control Moisturiser, I was keen to see what other products Bulldog could offer me. Within the oil control range, there is face scrub that looked, from other reviews I’ve read, as being a good one to try.

On first use I was again surprised it was black in colour, maybe I should read the label before I use things 😉 It seems again that another brand is favouring the use of charcoal for its purifying properties, I personally like this and think more brands should follow suit.

The scrub has a creamy consistency that is not too thick but in my personal opinion, it could be a little thicker as it can slip off the hand and face quite quickly, especially when applying to your head. The exfoliating beads are there but quite sparse, I personally prefer a rougher texture to exfoliating products, I want them to make me feel like my skin is getting a ‘proper’ scrub.

The product does however spread well and covers your face and head with ease, the colour remains as you use it and it keeps its consistency. With the price being so reasonable you can afford to use a little more if you wish or replace the bits that slip off your head. You can, like with the moisturiser, smell the witch hazel and juniper, which is nice but doesn’t last long.

Whilst using the scrub I did get the feeling that my skin had been cleaned but I was a little disappointed with the lack of beads for exfoliating, I think there could be extra and that way you’d feel a little more like you’ve had that face scrub you were looking for. If this was the case I would definitely rate this product higher than I have.

The product washes off very easily and does leave you skin feeling refreshed and clean. You can use this everyday as it’s not harsh and it does help reduce oil and balance the skin.

Final thoughts

As mentioned in my other reviews I like the range Bulldog has to offer men, I like the ethical stance of the company and I also like the simple packaging and brand. They are definitely getting things right and if they keep improving the range they will have a strong future.

My only real disappointment with this scrub is just the lack of ‘scrub’, it feels like it could do better, it could be more of a scrub. In my opinion, the product needs more exfoliating beads, if Bulldog were to add more I think for the price, and results, they would have a difficult product to beat in this price range.

I would recommend you try it, for the money it’s worth having a tube and seeing if you like the results as it does leave your face feeling clean and balanced, just not scrubbed.
