The No7 Anti-shine moisturiser claims to combat shine due to oily skin. It’s also supposed to hydrate and refresh the skin.

Pros
- Soaks into the skin quickly if applied lightly

Cons
There are a couple: what I find with this moisturiser is that it if you apply it too liberally it can take some time to soak in, especially if you have some facial hair or a beard. It has a slightly chalky feel to it but that doesn’t stop it from being spread over the skin easily. The trick is to apply a couple of layers of light coats until you feel you have covered your whole face and head.
This leads to the cost – to get the desired results you have to apply more than I think you should, and therefore you run out quickly. Ranging from £8.95 for 50 ML | £17.90 per 100ML it’s not the cheapest option on the market.
My Opinion
I have been using this particular moisturiser now for a few of years, a couple of reasons why. It’s quite inexpensive but it offers good results for getting rid of shine and offering long-lasting results.
On a normal day, I don’t need to reapply unless it’s been warm or it’s a gym day. However, you do need to apply quite a bit to get the results you need, I find if applied too lightly the effects wear off by mid afternoon.
It’s a balance between having to rub in white leftover moisturiser to get a better result or apply lightly and be shining by mid-morning.
The moisturiser also offers a UVB protection factor of SPF 15. It does, however, say on the back that it’s not recommended for sunbathing.
What this means is that everyday protection from the UVB rays is up to SPF 15 but you should not use it as a daily sunscreen. I have used this around the world and you do notice that it offers a little protection when in the sun but you MUST use a full sunscreen if you’re planning the bronze look.
This is what Boots says the product offers
“Every time you wash or shave, you strip your skin of moisture. That moisture needs replacing, and if your skin is oily it needs a product that is specially designed to balance and regulate.
Our skincare experts have formulated this cooling, non-greasy lotion to give oily skin the right level of hydration, for 24 hours. At the same time, microsponges absorb excess sebum to keep skin shine free all day.”

Final thoughts
As I’ve mentioned I have been using this for years, it’s a good all-rounder with some good results, especially if you have oily skin like me. The Boots No7 for Men range is generally pretty good at delivering the results it claims on their packaging but be aware, this will not last all day and the results will wear off pretty quickly if you don’t apply liberally, and that’s when it becomes quite expensive!
Definitely worth a try in my opinion but be prepared to see the bottle disappear quite quickly.
